Switzerland co-hosted Euro 2008 with Austria but failed to reach the knock-out stages. During FIFA World Cup 2010 they set a FIFA World Cup record for consecutive minutes (559) without conceding a goal and although beating Spain in the opening match failed to qualify for the Round of 16. There is a number of current Swiss footballers playing in the UK – Philippe Senderos (Fulham), Valon Behrami (West Ham United) and the Arsenal defender Johan Djourou. Switzerland lie 24 in the FIFA World Rankings.
